Where's Wally?

It just doesn't sound right, does it?

Turns out Waldo is only Waldo in the US and A. Here in the UK where he was created, he is Wally. And in Germany he ist Walter.

I always thought Waldo was American. In hindsight, it's obvious that he's not:

1. He's not easy to pick out of a crowd (as we all know!). If he were American you'd hear him talking really loudly on public transportation and could spot him immediately.
2. He travels to exotic locations.
3. Where's Waldo ranks 88th out of the 100 most banned and objected to books in the USA. The most common reason for banning is that, in one picture, located on a beach, a female sunbather is seen with exposed breasts. Shocking stuff. Walmart's not going to stock that garbage.
